FISH INFORMATION

The fishing to be enjoyed on the west coast of the Cape is nothing short of spectacular.

The wider range of species available ensures that at least one group (of species) will be firing if not all of them.

The major groups are geographically divided.

In the rivers there are Barra, Jacks, 4 species of Trevally, 4 Bream, 2 Queenfish, 3 Cod and some others. The estuaries have all the above with Barracudas, Fingermarks and Salmon.

The coastal flats have all the Trevallys, and Queenfish Plus Giant Herring, Tarpon, and recently discovered Indo Pacific Permit, which has become the “holy Grail” of salt water fly fishing.

The close inshore reefs you can fish for demersal species like Largemouth Nanagui, Red Emperor and Coral Trout. Troll , cast to , or bait fish for Giant pelagics, Spanish Mackerals , GT’s , Cobia etc.

A significant proportion of the success of our operation is the fact that we operate in this accessible remote pristine wilderness. Where all these fishes abound free from the pressures of commercial and industrial activity. Nobody can take credit for that, we merely supply the vehicle to access this magnificent fishery. We are very proud to say we have had zero impact, it is exactly the same now as it was ten years ago when we discovered it.

June onwards is our peak season. Cooler weather,18 to 25 Deg C, fluffy white clouds, no rain. Off shore winds so the coastal waters are calm. Big low tides in the middle to later in the day, makes the fish to water ratio in our favor. Good for structure bashing for Barramundi and others and the larger volumes of water movement makes for moving fishes, moving fish are feeding fish. After the bottom of the tide the flood tide brings the nutrition and with that the predating Queenfish and trevalleys. The offshore coastal reef pelagic species normally fire in the winter months and Spanish Mackerel and Tuna are abundant.

With these remote, unspoilt, untouched waters with the fishes just waiting for you to put the effort into catching them. There is no one else there, that is why it is so good. Another spin off of having so many different fisheries available is that every taste can be catered to. A couple of anglers can be fly fishing for Permit, while another two can be casting lures for Barra , while another two trolling for Pelagics.

If you are proficient at your sport you can catch up to fifty species of fish in the week with us, and actually lose count of the number of captures.
